Noise Module User Guide

Learn how to adjust parameters to create and manipulate noise-based sounds.

What is the Noise Module?

The Noise module generates white noise and allows you to shape it using adjustable parameters. You can control the level and frequency slope of the noise to create a variety of sound effects, such as wind, hiss, or percussive bursts.

How to Use the Noise Module

1. Main Interface

The Noise module consists of two sliders that allow you to control the following parameters:

  • Level: Controls the overall volume of the noise. Range: 0% – 200%. Default: 128%.
  • Slope: Adjusts the frequency balance of the noise. A positive slope emphasizes higher frequencies, while a negative slope emphasizes lower frequencies. Range: -100% – 100%. Default: 0%.

2. How to Adjust Parameters

  1. Find the desired slider (e.g., Level or Slope).
  2. Click and drag the slider to adjust the value.
  3. Release the slider to apply changes.
  4. After finishing adjustments, the sound will automatically play with the new settings.

3. Tooltips on Hover

If you hover over any slider, the program may display a tooltip or additional information about the parameter. This helps you better understand how each slider works.

Tips for Using the Noise Module

Create Wind Effects: Set the Slope to a high positive value (e.g., 75%) to emphasize high frequencies and simulate wind-like sounds.

Create Bass Rumbles: Set the Slope to a negative value (e.g., -50%) to emphasize low frequencies and create deep rumbling sounds.

Adjust Volume Carefully: The Level parameter controls the overall volume. Be cautious when increasing it to avoid clipping or distortion.

Combine with Other Modules: Use the Noise module alongside other modules like Tone or Overtones to layer noise with pitched sounds for more complex textures.

Example Usage

  1. Set Level to 150% to make the noise louder.
  2. Set Slope to 50% to emphasize higher frequencies and create a hissing sound.
  3. Release the sliders and listen to the result.
  4. Experiment by lowering the Slope to -50% to hear how the sound shifts toward lower frequencies.

Possible Issues and Solutions

  • No Sound: Ensure that the Level parameter is set above 0%.
  • Sound is Too Harsh: Lower the Level or adjust the Slope to reduce high-frequency emphasis.
  • Sound Doesn’t Change: Make sure you release the slider after making adjustments.
